Smithville is a small town that has been recently grown and gotten some cool stops. Get ready for some small town vibes, everyone knows everyone and everyone is more than ready to welcome you in to their lovely town. Located about an hour outside Austin, and just past Bastrop, Smithville is perfect for a relaxing half-day or full day adventure.
Shop til you drop
While there are some shops on Main Street, my favorite place to stop is on 2nd Street at The Midnight Monkey Mercantile. With unique gifts that they change out every month, you're sure to find something new every time! Their items range from boutique clothing and shoes for men and women, to soaps and chocolate and books and little monkey trinkets.
In the back of the shop you'll find a friendly barista and an espresso bar with specialty coffee from Mazama Coffee Company + Roastery. Grab a cappuccino or an iced tea and continue on your journey.
A little off the beaten path you can find Bone Spirits Distillery. With the tasting room open Monday - Saturday and right in the distillery, you'll get the full experience. A well known and loved bourbon in Smithville, grab yourself a bottle to share.
Eats + Drinks
Honey's Pizza is a must in Smithville and my favorite place to eat. With creative and artisan pizzas made in their pizza oven to order, you can't go wrong. Paired with a specialty cocktail, you're set for an afternoon lunch. Enjoy inside or out, then grab some Amy's Ice Cream on the patio for dessert!
Remember the show "Cheers", where everyone knows your name? If you ever wanted to live that (I know I do), then step on over to Coach Q's Social Club. Started and run by a beloved coach from the Smithville High School, you'll feel like you truly belong even if they don't call you Norm from the get go. With live music happening often and plenty of bar games, you'll never want to leave.
Get your Beauty Sleep
The Katy House Bed + Breakfast is the warm and welcoming inn you've always dreamed of! With every room different and named a cute Texas name, you're in for a treat. With big rooms, and comfortable beds, you'll have no problem unwinding. My room even had a claw foot tub and electric fireplace that I was thrilled about. In the morning, you'll be greeted by a full breakfast in the dining room and the warm smiling faces of Stu + Linda, the inn owners. Rooms typically start at $129.
