The Saltlick BBQ: is tucked away on FM1826. This place has a reputation for great BBQ and a friendly, rustic atmosphere. It's the place locals always bring their house guests because it always gets an "ooh and ahhh."
The setting is gorgeous, lush and grand. There's no air conditioning, but they do have windows that open and fans blowing. They don't serve liquor but you can bring your own. So cart in your cooler filled with beer or wine and have a party with their food and hospitality.
They do not accept credit cards or checks. Bring lots of cash. This place is not cheap. They do have an ATM machine on-site but it pings you with a hefty service fee.
Family style dinner is $15.95 per person, all you can eat. Kids 12 and under $4.95. They also have plated options. This is one of those places where you want to be good and hungry when you get there.
Trattoria Lisina: Very elegant with prices to match. I prefer to go here for lunch when it's usually less crowded and prices are more reasonable. Service has always been impeccable, food wonderful and the setting is breathtaking. Truly a slice of heaven. Winery is usually open for self-guided perusing of the facilities through big glass windows. The grounds house a vineyard, lush vegetation and an "old world" Tuscan style eatery. Trattoria Lisina is owned by the Mandola family who own and run several "Mandola" restaurants throughout Austin.
